i remember riding in the car as a kid, raffi playing on the car stereo, and my brothers and i singing along. it's memories like this that are giving me a growing appreciation for the sacrifice my parents made for us and the collective good of an enjoyable car ride. i cannot and will not listen to raffi. even as a child i remember not being able to get those annoying tunes out of my head. i fear that i would no sooner hear his voice before i would be reaching for a fork to stab myself in the eye with. thankfully laura veirs made a kids album of folk songs that is not only tolerable but enjoyable for parents. colin meloy lends his distinctive voice and bela fleck adds some banjo making it a lovely little compilation.
