One year ago I stepped on a plane and headed towards an unknown and exciting adventure. After 3 years of having minimal contact Stijn and I made a decision to see if the feelings that began to form years ago were still there. I can remember every minute of the agonizingly long flight to Geneva. There were butterflies in my stomach and my palms were sweating for 9 hours! Within minutes of seeing him we were walking arm in arm, and within hours we were discussing how to make a cross continental relationship work. It's been an amazing year; I found love, moved across the world, got engaged, and made a baby. Some may think it's been a crazy year but I think it's been just perfect. I returned from my latest trip to Cincinnati on the same flight exactly one year from my first trip here. One year ago on the train from the airport to Lausanne Stijn held my hand and this time one year later he held his hands on my belly and felt our daughter kick for the first time. I am so grateful that the courage and hope we had a year ago has turned into a life that is beyond what I could have imagined. Here's to many more years of love, courage, and adventure.
